On June 9, 2025, COSCO SHIPPING announced the importance of correctly declaring cargo information to customers.
COSCO SHIPPING Lines consistently adheres to the principle of “Safety First, Prevention as Priority” in fulfilling our obligations to safely transport customers’ cargo. We are committed to ensuring the safety of personnel, the environment, vessels, and cargo. During the summer months, high temperatures significantly increase the risks associated with transporting dangerous goods. Recently, frequent fire incidents caused by new energy vehicles, lithium battery shipments, and used fuel-powered vehicles have occurred in multiple locations. To ensure transportation safety, we hereby reiterate that the safety responsibilities of shippers handling dangerous goods are paramount. Every shipper must fully recognize the unique nature of transporting dangerous goods and strictly implement safety management obligations in accordance with relevant regulations, including but not limited to:
Proper Packaging: Use packaging materials that comply with standards and suit the nature of the goods for scientific container loading. Strictly follow relevant regulations for packing operations—including pre-loading preparations, packing and sealing requirements, and post-packing procedures—to prevent leakage or hazards caused by damaged packaging or improper loading during transit.
Temperature Control: For dangerous goods requiring temperature control, implement effective control measures to ensure cargo remains within specified temperature ranges throughout transportation.
Accurate Information: Promptly and accurately provide the carrier with critical information such as the correct shipping name, quantity, hazardous properties, control and emergency temperatures (if applicable), and emergency response measures of the goods, enabling us to better assess risks and prepare for contingencies.
In order to effectively control risks, ensure the safety of crews, the environment, vessels, and cargo property, as well as uphold the interests of all clients onboard, we(GUANGZHOU CHINA-LATIN LOGISTICS CO.,LTD) hereby once again remind all shippers to strictly comply with their shipping obligations, ensuring that the declared names and hazardous nature levels of the goods are accurate and without any concealment, false reporting, misreporting, or omissions. Additionally, please enhance the quality control of packaging and loading to ensure cargo safety.
In addition, with immediate effect, shipping company will collect
USD30,000 per unit on customers who conceal, misrepresent, mistake, or omit the declaration of dangerous goods. Furthermore, the company will seek compensation from the responsible party for all losses and expenses incurred.
Especially for sensitive goods such as lithium batteries/liquids/powders/chemicals/gases/magnetism,we emphasize once again that regardless of the mode of transportation used and whether they are classified as dangerous goods according to the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Regulations, as long as the goods contain them, the shipper must fulfill their declaration responsibilities truthfully.
